Lingual Braces are customised for each patient, with each bracket being individually contoured to fit its respective tooth surface. Impressions will be taken at your first appointment in order for the brackets to be accurately created. These are then fitted into place at the second appointment using a special cement.
The arch wires are then fitted to the brackets and the tension in these is adjusted to gently move the teeth towards the required position. Return appointments are then made to the practice over the duration of the treatment in order to for adjustments to be made. We also advise that regular visits be made to the Hygienist during treatment.
As is the case with most orthodontic devices, it can take a few weeks to get used to wearing lingual braces. Patients may initially experience some discomfort and it can take time to adjust to eating and talking with the braces in place.
Treatment usually takes between 18 and 24 months, though every case is different and the exact time can vary depending on the amount of adjustment required and the complexity involved.
