Before any treatment takes place, we carefully assess your individual case, take any necessary x-rays and talk you through your available options. If you decide to go ahead then we will provide you with a bespoke treatment plan.
The treatment itself requires several appointments at the practice. The first step is the fitting of the the implant screw to the jaw bone, providing the stable foundation for the new tooth.
There is then a period of time before the next appointment, allowing the implant and the bone to completely fuse together. Once this has occurred, the implant can be fitted with an abutment, a connector onto which a new crown can be placed.
This completes the procedure, though regular follow-up appointments are advised to monitor progress.
There are a number of options available for replacing missing teeth and the choice of treatment depends on a range of factors, such as the number of teeth that are missing, the general condition of oral health and cost.
Dental bridges and dentures can both be the most appropriate option in certain cases. Dental implants are generally considered the best option though, as they achieve the most natural results, provide the greatest stability and don’t have an impact on neighbouring teeth.
